With the soaring prices of prescription medications, brand and generic, I feel it is necessary to help customers, especially the elderly, look for opportunities to save money. This is where prescription discount cards come in handy.
Prescription discount cards are a great way to save money on medications not covered or preferred on your insurance plan. With the multitude of discount cards available, you may want to do some research and try to find one that saves you the most on your particular medications.
Medicare Part D Patients
If you have Medicare part D, be careful when using discount cards. The best time to use it would be towards the end of the year and you are stuck in the donut hole or coverage gap.
Using these cards may not be beneficial if you have not reached your deductible or you are in the coverage gap. Your copay does not go towards your out of pocket total.
However, if the drug is not covered at all, then it would be perfectly fine to use it.
